Next time the billionaire talks about his "business vision" and his "future successes" of a new project remeber how wrong he got this project that collapsed only 5 years later.

The main hubris of the tech bros is that they believe what they think is cool the public will think is cool. Problem is they are trapped in perpetual adolescence. Expect AI to suffer a similar fate as META. It will never produce enough revenue to justify its cost.

The irony here is that I knew someone who was so paranoid Meta would personally shut down VRChat on Quest headsets to make metaverse more popular, but it turns out Meta didn't even know it was competing against VRChat at all

Meta: LEGS ARE HHHAAAARRRRDD! Furries: we got finger tracking going so accurately that we can do ASL over VR, legs are easy. Meta: we flushed $77 billion down the toilet and have nothing to show for it Furries: we built a whole world in an afternoon for free and it's very popular.

There is, this user is a good jumping off point. bsky.app/profile/wake...

I’m excited to share this awesome video about a fursuiter’s story. I’ll be using only ASL alphabet handshapes to tell it, and it’s going to be fun to watch! Full video at YouTube: youtu.be/6UuRVntCjgk

Meta: GAMES IN VR HAVE TO BE SIMPLE! Furries: We made a fishing game world within VR chat that's even more engaging than the already very popular Stardew Valley fishing, it has a million views in a single weekend.

...and yet, somehow and astonishingly, the widely believed myth that tech bros are geniuses persists. That they somehow have special insight. Lauded as visionaries, they fail in serial fashion and are still treated like every utterance is a TED talk filled with profound wisdom. #EatTheRich

My last post on Facebook was a warning about Cambridge Analytica I notified friends not to take the fun tests on FB because CA was collecting our personal data and weaponizing our data, using it against one another. Bannon & Kushner hired CA to create the 'us vs. them' analogy in 2016. It worked.

That is true. Government agencies are using facial recognition for nefarious purposes. I’m a federal government retiree. The DOGE boys took my personal data, and I want to sue Trump & Musk for identity theft. We no longer have the right to privacy.

i worked for the communications VP who claimed that was a super successful rebrand ... i laughed in their face, out loud even

Is anyone surprised about what happens when you’re too afraid to tell your creepy CEO that no one is gonna want to play in his creepy virtual playground for free, let alone spend any money on it? No? Good. Because sometimes I worry I woke up in a stupid parallel universe.

Zuckerberg burned $77 billion on this fiasco, and now he’s going to burn even more on his attempt to be a player in AI. Just because you hit it big with one stolen idea doesn’t mean you have the ability to come up with something new on your own.

You laugh because that doesn't seem like a lot. In truth at peak times SL gets to be about 50k users. That's not millions of people, but IMHO it's still impressive for a literal 20 year old piece of tech to continue to self-sustain like that.
