The code that is shared today is from the client (the mobile app and site). The code for the servers is already available in another Github project

I've filed some odd bugs through the "Send Feedback" functionality in the last day or two. Would y'all prefer if I recreated those as issues?

Awesome! I'll probably use issues going forward where applicable since they're much richer of an interface than a google form.

Makes sense, thank-you! Happy to see scale go slow, but a lot of infosec peeps I know I'd love to onboard too (was considering a small, private instance if it was possible already)

Sure, I’m aware the protocol is open. I was only wondering if even the server side was open source (or if it’s going to be in the future) just like (only as an example) Mastodon is.

No, because they are on completely different protocols (hence no way to federate with each other). However, I believe the new protocol developed by Bluesky is far superior.

Congrats! Now I have somewhere to open issues instead of tagging you in replies and getting to chat with you here 🥲

yes, there will be federated instances but i think the idea is to smooth out the rough parts of that experience. if you don’t want to think about that piece then you shouldn’t have to.

This section of the read me file seems to imply otherwise. Mastodon didn’t have guidelines like this. I know other platforms will be able to connect to Bluesky over the AT protocol, but part of the reason why Mastodon failed was because of the server selection. I’m hoping Bluesky doesn’t do that.

ah - when i say “federated”, i just mean what you said - other apps can communicate with bluesky via ATP. agreed though, bluesky seems to be doing two things better, having a default server selection, and universal usernames, allowing that federation to fade more into the background.

I wonder what impact this'll have, on Mastodon, Laconica, and Diaspora, at this point, and if it'll galvanise Twitter, and FB into opening up more (but, they had the FaceBook Open Platform, at one point)...
