The story around AI used to be about generating more. For many neurodivergent professionals, the bigger benefit is offloading invisible labor: remembering what you promised, the dozen tabs open in your brain, the thread you meant to reply to. ⬇️

I think they're normally a dollar, but Walmart slashes the cost of a bunch of basic class essentials when it's coming into back-to-school season. It's a cheap and highly visible way of acting like they care about the community.

For 38 cents it's just a regular composition notebook, but even plain lined paper has the benefit of untethering you from your computer/phone, doesn't forget or hallucinate your stuff, and is much more flexible. I have ADHD and I used one of those as a planner for college and it helped immensely.

Yup; they have a dotted one, and cheap sketchbooks that work really well, too, for freeform use. Neither are on the big back-to-school sale, but they're all simple, affordable, and have far less societal and environmental footprint.

Not going to listen to someone pander and shill coded slop to Neurodivergent people, when at worst, she's busy and doesn't take notes. In my experience, corporate leadership would be the 1st to knife you in the back and toss you to the wolves for being neurodivergent.

Github is using accessability as an excuse to fund microslop machines capable of hospitalizing more people? How generous! What's next, swords can heal you if they impale you?

As an autistic professional (or pro autistic), sincerely, go fuck yourselves. Don't use us to legitimise ai. Most autistic people have super strong moral compasses and as such know that using ai is morally bankrupt.

Like do what works for you and I'm glad it helps but this is definitionally not an accessibility tool, it is not endorsed as such by any organization, and while I get that your job is to sell this stuff it's a real slap in the face to try to use our neurodivergence as a way to glaze it up.

I used to have respect for GitHub, because sharing coding knowledge is good. But this post is disgustingly bigoted. You’re using Neurodivergent people to argue for something that hurts us on average, it’s clear you do not give a damn about us and just want to push your AI at any cost.

Reframing automation as 'accessibility' rather than just 'efficiency' is a sharp distinction It’s about removing the syntax barrier for people who have the architectural vision but lack the rote muscle memory I’d love to read a longer breakdown of your take on this #a11y

as an ND professional I actually highly recommend not atrophying your own brain and making it even less functional by using the planet cooking plagiarism machine that poisons poor people of color hope this helps also this fucking sucks lol

Giving up exercising your executive function because it doesn't work as well as you'd like it to is some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard. You guys are getting dumber and don't notice it, but everyone else does.

Bullshit. The true story with AI and neurodivergent people, is there's now a mountain of worthless slop that's impossible to read or reason about clogging up code which used to be legible because it was written by a human with intent, instead of an expensive worthless slurry regurgitator.

I'm also AuDHD and find immense value in generative AI agents, but through completely different means I hate automation, I don't like when things run for me, but I wouldn't be able to do what I do without using these tools the way that works for me

That’s a misrepresentation of what I meant so I’ll clarify: I would not be able to operate at the speed or scale at which I do now without the technology Not I am fundamentally incapable of designing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and advertising software systems without AI

GitHub is owned by Microsoft, who are currently vowing to reach a billion daily Xbox users and make three more fallout games despite having fired the majority of their employees. This whole "reality" thing is deeply incompatible with their goal of making infinite money with zero expenses

Im neurodivergent, and I do not appreciate you presuming what I need or want to advance your own agenda. Im sick of companies telling consumers what we want, instead of actually listening to us. Figure that out or go away.

Buddy’s problem would largely be solved by using ClickUp. The problem is data silos, and instead of getting the data out of the silos and into a single place, they’re trying to build bridges between the silos. It might work, but it’s always gonna be janky.

As someone who struggles greatly with ADHD, and is a game developer, I find it utterly reprehensible that you would try to promote a tool developed to replace humans in the workplace in the name of my disability. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I hope the payout is worth it.

if you don’t like it, you can go right back to the sewer that is Twitter. Yes, we hide toxic replies here because most of us want to use social media to enjoy ourselves, not to get into debates with people who are never going to care about us anyway 👍

i’ll still take the Bluesky nuclear block any day, it leaves our comments up for others to see even if the original poster blocked them. i would never use Twitter because they lack a real block.

That sounds pretty cool. My biggest challenge with organizational systems for my ADHD is consistency - if there's even a 5% failure rate I can't trust it to keep me on track. I assume your genAI tools are like 99.9% consistent, right? Or at least 98%. Or at least 60%. It's 60% trustworthy, right?

Interesting, because the story around AI sure seems to be this bsky.app/profile/gith...

GitHub@github.com

You've probably already approved one without realizing it. 👀 Agent-generated pull requests pass the tests and show clean diffs, so you merge. That's exactly the problem. This checklist catches what they hide: gamed CI, security gaps, and bugs that slip past green checks.

As someone neurodivergent, fuck off. We don't need ai and a lot of us don't want it. We need a world which accepts us as we are and accommodates our differences. Not one that tries to technology them out of existence for the sake of making a small number of people as much money as possible.

is there a reason why you want to push everyone to create a competitor for your platform like what is the goal in publishing evil ass shit like this

Neurodivergent software dev here. Like hell I'd offload any labor into AI. It can't be trusted as effectively an incompetent intern at best, and reviewing literally every little thing it does is even more mental load than just doing it yourself!

This feels written by someone who has never used an AI agent to code. If you think they have any better memory than me you are dearly mistaken. Claude 4.8 (even with the 1M context window) forgets things the moment it gets distracted. If anything, it does a decent job of emulating someone with ADHD

I didn't even know that people used (or tried to use) it for that. If I need to remember something, I just...set an alarm on my phone about it? I've heard some folks with adhd say some AI functions are helpful for them, but there's literally no reason to need a robot to remind you of things unless

I'm missing something here 😭 I'm sure alarms are not helpful for everyone, and they're not always the most effective for me, but I'm really not sure what AI is supposed to do about it. The note about claude emulating someone with ADHD made me laugh way too hard though lmao

It sounds like you are the one who has not really used AI. AI enables me to multi-task across diverse problem domains and not lose focus on where I was. Right now, I am writing software for four different software projects, editing a feature film, and managing band rehearsals through Claude.

Historically I find people who claim they have six different jobs AND people who say they benefit from AI are both categories of people who are contributing virtually nothing to anything, it's a necessary precondition to either.

The bottom line - The first bit of learning how to use AI properly is learning how to make sure important parts of memory can span sessions without the need for larger context windows.

Ok, after actually reading the blob post, and not just the bluesky post i"m doubling down. The bluesky post was written by someone who has never used these models, but this blog post was written by a flat out incompetent manager who is using it as a crutch instead of attempting self improvement

There are a plethora of automation tools task managers that exist today. Any of which can help with the sort of issues that are described in the blob post, and none of which are as resource intensive or destructive to the environment as a "team" of llm agents

This is a marketing piece for using AI models that is just another flavor of "use a diary" instead of actual coping mechanisms for AuDHD

Whoa buddy, I'd check your ableism there Just because someone needs different tools than you to track information doesn't make them an "incompetent manager" wtf

But we're not providing them tools to help, were providing a footgun that will fail them. LLM models are unreliable, will lie, make up info, and have inheritant biases. Task management tools and trackers are absolutely important, but this is such a disservice to everyone who benefits from thos tools

I used to be neutral on GitHub and after seeing this post I fucking despise them and will be going out of my way to avoid their services.

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on for this. How fucking dare you use neurodivergent folk as a scapegoat to push your evil technology. Fuck everything about this offensive bullshit.

There's tons of free software tools out there for notes, timers, reminders and task scheduling that help neurodivergent people during their work day. Using AI for any of those things is wasteful, massively inefficient, unreliable and idiotic.

As a neurodivergent professional AI has literally never been helpful to me, you further cheapen your user experience the longer and harder you support an industry built on theft and exploitation of the very neurodivergent people you claim to support.
