Indeed, Judith Miller didn’t recover from that propaganda but lots of Bush folks should have been held accountable for that fabricated war.

News outlets should read his posts out loud- not paraphrase or summarize to make him sound sane or comprehensible. NYT should print it in full, front page. Un-redacted. The President of the US is delusional, insane, and that is a big story that should be told directly to the American people.

Anyone in ANY kind of responsible position- doctor, pilot, CEO, manager of a McDonald's franchise- who posted rants like his would & should be immediately removed from their position. And yet he's sending us to war & wrecking our economy. And Congressional Republicans keep failing at their jobs.

Infuriating. How much ink did it spill on 5 Tea Party dudes cosplaying in revolutionary gear during the Obama administration? How many diner articles trying to understand racists hiding behind “economic anxiety”? Instead we get her emails, Biden’s age, and dissing #NoKings.

I have a vivid memory of the “F-15 protests” on Feb. 15, 2004, in the run up to the Iraq War. With protests in 800 cities, it was the largest global protest in human history at the time. The NYT put it on something like A17. The American media was all in on the war and obvious WMD lie.

here are some NYT headlines 16 years ago Tea Party Lights Fuse for Rebellion on Right (February 15, 2010) Tea Party Group Issues Warning to the GOP (February 26, 2011) Poll Finds Tea Party Backers Wealthier and More Educated (April 14, 2010)

Actually as much as I hate the nyt for being the American fascist mouthpiece of record, it is good to criticize the no kings protest. protest without specific demands is literally "virtue signalling" as loathe as I am to use that term. No Kings is a nice idea, but the lack of focus is of concern.

If there had been a ten thousandth of these sorts of numbers in protest of Biden, they would have fallen over themselves covering it. The NYT is broken, it needs to be rebooted.

Fisher certainly doesn't want to wait for "an expansive political infrastructure and wealthy donors willing to pay for it," which will come just in time for hell to freeze over. Which forces us to examine Jeremy Peters portrayal of the tea party and his choice to contrast Tim Phillips with Fisher.

All you have to do is contrast Peter's breathless coverage of the small astro-turfed Tea Party events with his No Kings "even large numbers of people may really still be a failure" to see his and the NY Times' bias.

Jeremy Peters is a worthless read, his words are akin to the health benefits of sugar, none, except for the people who he so desperately wants to maintain a relationship with in order to maintain his lazy unhealthy form of access journalism, which really isn’t journalism, it’s propaganda, garbage

No mention anywhere of Erica Chenoweth's 3.5% rule (Nonviolent protests involving at least 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change), which would have at least added a research-based element to a story based on speculation.

Well look at Occupy Wallstreet and the women's pink hat event years back. They faded away without any results. No Kings could be the same unless there's action. The masses have shown up but them standing around holding creative signs doesn't do anything more than show there's great discontent.

I could trace a line between Occupy Wall Street and the coffee shop unions for instance that have grown since then. I can get more into that point later, but trajectory of social movements is that big flashy things lead to smaller, more focused things. That's what we need to look for.

When we're passionate, it's because we're "deranged." When Republicans are passionate, it's because of their deeply felt Christian beliefs. This is so widely understood and accepted that it doesn't need saying, especially at the NYT. Thanks for the gift link. The Wordle paper is not worth a dime.

They want this mass rebellion to act like a political party I guess. Buy commercials on YouTube send out mailers etc. This is not that. This is a swelling anger that comes from the gut. Pointing out there are a lot of white educated women apparently means to this jerk that it’s not sustainable. FU.

Just looked at the lede story on the home page: "a portrait of Trump at war." They just can't quit the biggest loser. (Two protests I've been to went right past HQ & they still ignored 'em.)

The Grey Lady will disdain the resistance right up until we win, then act as if she was with us all along. Very revealing that they view the goal of a protest to save our country as "hitting a number" and "a primal scream." So much less embarrassing to discuss it at cocktail parties.

Thank you for this, Mark. The Chicago Sun Times today, had NOT ONE mention of any No Kings events. Cowards is the nicest word I can think of right now.

The press has spent the last decade skulking about, averting all glances, and hoping no one notices their tail curving down between their legs as they try not to piddle unconrolably. Maybe, someday, they will get a belly rub and a treat, and not a beating. At least, that seems to be their thinking.

That they list numbers in the second paragraph while saying they haven't verified them says quite a bit just by itself. Two nationwide rallies involving hundreds/thousands of protests and you didn't even attempt to figure out a number? Well considering they downplayed them in real time that tracks.

After the 2028 election is stolen, are you willing to die en masse to give the regime the Ceaucesque ending? I think not. Nor will you succeed with the police and military backing the regime. The US is done as a democracy, and only a ghastly civil war will change it.

1/3rd of the public will cheer for the end of democracy, 1/3rd won't know what to think or will believe the Trump controlled media. And that last third that knows and cares will be powerless to do anything but wave signs around and yell.

“Wet blanket” seems to be the new Republican strategy against protest. Look at any protest post on local subreddits or Facebook pages. It’s all “I’m with you but this won’t do anything and is a waste of time”

That’s because media like the @nytimes.com have no courage. In fact most of the mainstream media today are paid sycophants that are more interesting in appeasing an authoritarian regime than reporting the truth. All authoritarian regimes fail. Mainstream media is failing and will fall

And many of us will NEVER give the NUT a dime of our cash again. Come on people, do you really need to support this for crosswords and recipes?

American legacy media is owned by billionaire conservatives. If you want to continue working for one of these companies, you learn to paint progressives in a negative manner.

Future humans... IF America falls, #REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME. 1st Trump impeachment, 12/18/19 = #Republicans acquitted Trump foments insurrection, 1/6/21 2nd Tump impeachment, 1/13/21 = #Republicans acquitted Trump convicted 34 felonies, 5/30/24 SCOTUS rule Trump above law, 7/1/24 #NoKings

Protest is all good and fine, but the only real charges will occur in November and maybe in 2028 Even mass protests in EU, Iran, Egypt and going back in time, doesn't guarantee results that protesters want. I hope people bottle this energy and show up at polls in massive numbers, to really protest !

What amazes me Is how outraged the various “important” media outlets were about the Cesar Chavez revelations but not a fraction of that outrage toward a sitting US president who has a credible child rape allegation hidden in FBI files.

He deserves a lot of the venom, but he wasn't the person who allowed this to be published in its current form. My take on the Times is occasionally they do great investigative journalism, but the political coverage is awful.

We all know that the political opinions and actions of educated white people are just not as interesting as those of a C+ high school graduate in a tire shop somewhere

Good Lord. No Kings... lacks a single, specific demand?? Its demand is so simple even MAGA can understand it. The president can't do whatever he wants. He sees " no high profile leader" as a problem? I see it as the most grass roots to ever grass roots. Millions of grass roots.

The NYT counted itself out of the moral fight when Trump ran the first time. The paper truly believes that, as the arrogant self-appointed arbiter of journalism, it stands outside -- or above -- of morality. Sociopaths like Trump think the same thing. Go figure.

I don't understand why so many people still revere the NYT. Even other progressive reporters say they have value and still do a lot of great reporting. To me, that doesn't matter when they also keep putting out this kind of shit. It's one of the reasons why we're in this mess. Quit supporting it!

Give me a break. The NYT doesn't exist to cheerlead progressivism in the same way that doesn't exist to cheerlead conservativism. Do you even know what a newspaper is for? Read Mother Jones or the Nation for the kind of journalism you are looking for.

The fact that Jeremy Peters was assigned to write this piece is a tell. He's their "laundering right wing extremism as organic soccer moms" reproter. He also organized the staff letter condemning NYT union for criticizing its trans coverage. NYT opposition to anti Trump protests comes from the top
