I do find it extraordinary the amount of time Leftists spend on social media - you and Zach Polanski, leader of the Green Party in the UK, seem to be posting non-stop. What's with that?

Corporate conservative owned media is biased against the left. Posting yourself bypasses them and prevents them from creating a negative narrative against the left. Or, to put it bluntly, we are better at playing the game of thrones than you.

Well, I agree, you may have a point there. The Leftists like Mamdani are pretty slick on SM and in my view helped get him elected as Mayor. But you know, I am fully aware Bluesky is a haven for the Leftist ideology so I am only on here to show the other side of the narrative - take it or leave it.

No, I don't think he is. If there is a big announcement he's on Truth Social but not pouring out the content like Mamdani does. As if being on SM shows what a good job you're doing. It's a load of old bollocks.

Idea, Mayor Mamdani. Can NYC have recyclable bins placed next to garbage cans. Many people depend on those discarded bottles and cans for cash and have to dig thru the garbage to retrieve them. This would create less garbage in the streets and provide those in need with easy access to bottles.

I've always loved NYC, and Mayor Mamdani is everything The People want in leadership. His personal, affable ways and his sparkling intelligence is a wonderful, refreshing change to the political scene.

Wow! A responsive, egalitarian, people-first politician who isn't in the pocket of the Billionaires. Who'd-a-thunkit? It's almost like ALL Democrats⸺Socialists, Commies-and-Pinkos, Radicals, Lunatics, AND boring old Normies⸺can agree and support you, Mayor Mamdani.

Can every politician who actually has the best interests of the people and the earth in mind, please copy Mayor Mamdani’s blueprint for how to get stuff done quickly, efficiently, and effectively please? This guy is amazing!

Helmets are great, if you come off your bike. PLEASE don't forget that (especially with US vehicle sizes) they don't protect from vehicle impacts. Safe, protected, cycle lanes help more. My helmet's primary use is when local authority hasn't trimmed trees and I headbutt them as I ride below them.

Whether it’s him or his pr people or both, this is _so_ good! I wish other Democrats would take note. Even half a Mamdani is better than a Jeffries, or *shudder* a Manchin. There are some solid, competent, pr-savvy politicians out there who are also fighters with good principles, and we need them!

My guys, you can wear a helmet AND create a better biking infrastructure. I ate dirt on my bike many times without being in the city or anyone around and having a helmat saved my brain. It's just common sense. Just like wearing leathers if you motorcycle. You don't have to, but you'll be happy u did

Helmets also protect you from falls and with the rise of ebikes making crash speeds higher the Dutch have been urged to start wearing helmets. The Dutch Institute for Road Safety found that if they mass adopted helmets there would be 85 fewer deaths yearly. www.theguardian.com/world/articl...

theguardian.com‘The brain is very vulnerable’: Dutch cyclists urged to wear helmets as road deaths riseHelmet-wearing is rare in this nation of bike riders but authorities are pushing people to think again

You can't make that prediction because you don't know the other ways in which helmet use would impact cycling. I think treating cycling as if it's a sport would negatively impact bicycle culture.

And Dutch cycling experts have said that they are talking a load of nonsense because mass adoption of bicycle helmets would massively destabilise Dutch cycling levels.

Yes, if you are a pensioner who could previously only cycle at 8mph on a good day and now comfortably rides at 15mph, it might be a good idea to wear a helmet. But that's where the lessons end here. The Dutch are top of the charts when it comes to public health outcomes (including head injuries!)

That infrastructure is important! AND, you don't have to be hit by a car to need a helmet. Furthermore, safety in a country without many steep hills is always going look different than in will in very hilly places. Different cities have different needs; that's okay!

New York is flatter than most Dutch cities. Hills mostly matter in nature, where people cycle for sport. Obviously, people who cycle for sport in the Netherlands do wear helmets, because they ride more dangerous bikes at a higher speed. That's got nothing to do with regular cycling.

Well, once you’ve removed the driver risk, helmets for pootling on a bike are at about the same level of risk as Stairs Helmets or Walking Up Stairs Helmets. Helmets for vehicle passengers though… that would make a difference.

Well, I mean, I've been known to ride my bike down stairs. Trust me, we could find ways to hurt ourselves pretty badly, as long as we can get the bike up to 25 mph, we probably want to be wearing a helmet.

maybe no hills but those folks scoot across intersections like nobody's business. i get that laws/rules are different there and the resident drivers absolutely know to hit the brakes for cyclists but driving there as a foreigner left me a bit rattled. i adapted, however.

I think wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle is a very reasonable thing to do. There is no downside, and it drastically reduces your chance of serious injury if you fall off your bike while moving at high speeds.

And that's great, but it doesn't happen overnight. Additionally, Mayor Mamdani is a public figure and as such, it is good for him to encourage children and teens who look up to him as a role model. It's also a signal that he respects the people who care about his safety

Safety first is road design (e.g., protected bike lanes) and speed limits that prevent crashes - elements in your government‘s control, I believe :) Helmets help, but only if you are in a crash and hit your head

Republicans will say 'he's wasting time and taxpayer money making tik-tok videos' nevermind kids watch tik-tok videos and need a public figure they can look up to for things like, being safe and wearing a helmet. Please use this against them if(when) they do.

To add to the accolades, the story telling, shooting, lighting, direction and editing of this video is top notch! Film/TV cinematic level quality. The the Mayor's Office of Creative Communications is doing a fantastic job!

don't you see? it's all a clever ruse where he lulls you into complacency and before you know it, the government is doing good things for you

You’ll find that happens when the infrastructure is safer and people cycle casually (see: The Netherlands). It’s actually a tell that people feel safe to pootle, rather than having to engage in warfare with motorists.

The ultimate tech pivot: moving from "Move Fast and Break Things" to "Listen Slowly and Fix Things." Just hope the update doesn't require a full system reboot.

Every day we keep hoping that things will get a little easier, but lately our campaign has been very quiet We're still doing everything we can to rebuild our lives continue my education and support my family. We haven't given up we're simply asking for a little help to keep moving forward

Gloves. For so many minor bike spills, your palms will thank you for never ever riding without gloves. (Important cooling sunblock too for the tops of hands.)

You are so delightful! This ol' lady from Colorado thanks you for being a breath of fresh air and a leader in showing others how government can work. Have a safe day!

While there are a few things I don't 100% agree with how he is approaching them, he seems like a good guy that truly wants the best for New York. So I can hardly be mad at him over small difference in opinion. So go on king, do you thing!

I am a Palestinian living here in Gaza, and I can tell you that what we are experiencing is not just a news story or a picture on a screen. We live with fear, loss, and destruction every day, yet we still cling to life and freedom, and I wish you peace.

It's a good idea, but I keep on thinking of a lady I knew. She was in her 50s when she fell off her bike at walking speed. Shattered her skull. Never been the same person again.

The Dutch aren’t “anti-helmet” they just have bike- and pedestrian-centric infrastructure (including traffic laws heavily in favour of bikes and people) so they don’t see them as essential.

My point is that “safety first” is an infrastructure issue, a design issue. Of course wear a helmet until it’s improved, LOL, but helmets are not the solution. I never felt safe on a bike until I lived in the Netherlands. It was glorious freedom of movement. 🚲

Was hoping to see the unboxing of a custom painted helmet similar to what a Rangers goalie would wear. What's going on in the NYC art scene that the mayor has to wear a boring helmet?

Like you are goin gto change the entire infrastructure of NYC overnight? nope. If it is bike lines I can tell you the number of near misses as a pedestrian I had with bikers ignoring lights

Safety first…unless it is funding EMS and paying them fairly. Wear the helmet because understaffing and paying paramedics less than door dash drivers is causing level 1 emergency response times to increase. Not having a helmet increases your risk of being level 1.

PSA: Today's helmets are much better than even 10 year old helmets. bsky.app/profile/beac...

Q: How has the bike helmet market changed over the last 10 or 20 years? Miller: Extensive helmet improvements and we had to rescale last summer to differentiate the number of STAR categories due to all the advancements

I don't even live in NYC and I LOVE YOU. I woke up again, hesitant to check the outside world cuz so much is ick... but then I saw Mayor Zohran Mamdani and it did my heart good.

You have a lot to do in NYC (home of my Dutch ancestors), but I hope you come to Arkansas some day for ‘missionary work’ in support of the lefties trapped here in a red state. Besides, it’ll give Gov. Sanders heartburn.

True clarity of mind does not mean rushing to make statements, but rather listening first, learning second, and prioritizing safety—because protecting the city begins with respecting facts and lives.

I know it's only a helmet, but hearing the words "you're right" directed at the public - no equivocation or beating around the bush like most politicians - is very... what's the word I'm looking for? Validating? Healing? Empowering? This is how it can feel?
