NPR i guess is pro pardons for pedophiles. are you going to defend epstein next? bsky.app/profile/mtsw...

will they write an equivalent "James Talarico attacked Ken Paxton for releasing a child rapist, putting release of pedophiles front and center in the race" piece or do they only amplify GOP attacks for some reason?

weird to write a headline about the guy who helped a self-admitted child rapist walk free without mentioning that paxton pardoned a serial child rapist? dont you think that deserves a headline or do you not care about the fact that paxton proudly helps pedophiles?

Soon after Paxton won the Trxas Republican Senate primary runoff, his opponent, the Democratic nominee James Talarico, began pointing out how corrupt Paxton and Republicans are. It's not that hard, NPR. They already cut your funding so why carry water for these corrupt people?

Is it putting “manhood front and center” to pardon pedophiles & be a corrupt criminal? The press complains they’re being targeted, but then y’all carry water for these weirdo fascists like this Why dignify this juvenile idiocy with a story? Tell Ken to grow up from his middle school attitude

Like I truly believe we need a free press but holy fuck do you all make it nigh impossible to empathize with when you pull stuff like this Y’all are worried about style guides and keeping your interview sources open while they’re working on throwing your entire profession into the wood chipper

I'm sorry, what? Is Andrew Tate determining your editorial direction? Why are you framing this in line with toxic manosphere bullshit instead of exposing how that's all Republicans have to fall back on?

It seems fairly terrible for a pluralistic democracy to have “manhood” being covered as the central issue in any race. Hasn’t Paxton done some actual shady stuff, including firing whistleblowers and putting TX taxpayers on the hook for the money he owes for it? Maybe that’s worth highlighting.

I don’t know, though. Talarico’s anecdote about his dad mowing an elderly neighbor lady’s yard for her seems like a better definition of manhood, if we’re intent on using it as a central issue, than speculation on testosterone levels.

Does recommending a one day sentence for a convicted pedophile make you “high-T for Texas”? Perhaps Paxton should answer that. Why was he so lenient towards Adam Hoffman?

NPR you’re making me reconsider my donations. Honestly, I expected better but am losing faith. Taking Paxton’s reprehensible notion as a valid concept that warrants examination is absurd and uninformed.

Doesn’t Paxton mean go low C …for crook? And if Texas votes Paxton in over Telerico they are happy to have Paxton to steal their money and vote against anything that would make their daily lives better.

So you repeat GOP claims that Talarico is queer, but you don’t report on the overriding vibe of the entire GOP of openly thirsting for Trump’s rancid microdick?

Notice how the media immediately incorporates the right wing framing. The real story is a corrupt republican is engaging in gutter politics to distract from his many scandals. But the media ignores that to focus on elevating the right wing messaging.

I'm sick of this masculinity vs femininity discussion. We desperately need a societal discussion about Arrested Adolescence vs ADULTHOOD. Starting with the Boomers, marketing switched from courting mature responsible community members to catering to individual selfish Youth. 1/2

GOP views of 'masculinity' as cruelty, violence, dominance, appearances, etc are immature & childish. Adults protect others, don't waste resources, have perspective, are kind to kids & animals, ignore slights, & accept differences without fear. Men don't need steroids, they need to GROW UP. 2/2

@npr.org Have you written a similar story about Talarico attacking Paxton for granting an extremely early release to a convicted child-rapist, putting Paxton's "soft on child rape" views front and center in the race? If not, why not? Why are you deliberately prefer a particular candidate's framing?

Are you really fucking doing this? This is straight-up adopting Republican framing of this race; Paxton’s campaign could have written this for you. Your political coverage is a fucking disgrace. Never again wonder why I stopped giving you money after decades of loyal membership.

There’s no way anyone who would write the words” putting manhood front and center in the race” should ever have any job where other people are exposed to his/her fucking moronic thoughts. 🤝

How far NPR has capitulated and fallen. This fascist admin defunded you and you still carry water for them. You won't get another dime from me til you call a spade a spade. Paxton and Trump are fascist felons ushering the fall of American democracy. Do better ffs.

NPR and the journalist who wrote this, Danielle Kurtzleben, are effectively condoning the heinous sexual and immoral acts that Ken Paxton has committed. They frame his immoral values as legitimate, and once again force Dems to always have to subscribe to a much higher standard.

I believe it’s telling that NPR chooses to commit more resources and visibility to Paxton’s insults towards Talarico instead of Paxton’s affair, his corruption, and the possibility that he made a deal with a pedophile to get him less jail time.

What a terrible take. Paxton is unfit for the office because he’s less mature than a high schooler, and his only argument is to rely on slurs and lies.

Please let us know when you write this article: "James Talarico attacked Ken Paxton for releasing a child rapist, putting release of pedophiles front and center in the race". Or do you only amplify GOP attacks?

I get that you’re scared of Trump, his administration, and #PedoPleaDeal Paxton, but if you you’re so scared that you can’t do a bare minimum of journalism, you should do the honorable thing and quit. Accepting an impeached criminal adulterer’s finger-sniffing nickname for his opponent is a choice.

Ken Paxton appreciates the free advertising. Have they learned nothing in the last 10 years? Are you really that stupid, NPR? Paxton said a thing, NPR, like a puppet, reports it.

Paxton is a pedophile protector who committed securities fraud. He’s just Trump’s type. What’s amazing is that they throw insults and then when they get insulted they clutch their pearls…

Tolerance is a social contract - Trump and his ugly MAGAts and Millers broke that contract with their “radical leftists” “enemies within” “low IQ” “quiet piggy” “vermin” “poison” comments and their violent rhetoric…

Why am I continuing to support NPR if you are going to roll in the gutter with Fox News? This is not the journalism that I expect from you guys. I may as well take my money and invest in another outlet dedicated to presenting issues worthy of my time and interest.

Republicans hit below the belt because they'd rather spend their funds on smear campaigns and dick-measuring contests than campaign to make everyone's lives easier. They know it's easy votes to stay in power by keeping people uneducated, why else are solid red states lower on the education rank?

You can look it up, solid red states don't even make it in the top 10! (Maybe in a blue moon, but damn!) It's really telling that radical republicans hate how they cannot swindle smarter people(liberals), so they chose to convince everyone else that the "Liberals are the enemy/threat from within."

Rightwing media's been funded by dodgy "Low-T clinics" for so long they've normalized it into an ideological talking point. Never mind that Magats rage against "gender-affirming care" in other contexts. Fascist hypocrites obsess on maxxing hormones and maralago plastic surgeries for themselves.

It's the advertising slogan they've been using, incessantly, for years. 'Are you tired, listless, run-down, uninspired, limp-dicked?' - come on in to billy jack's boner shack, and be a real macho macho man by paying us to stick this syringe in your ass.' Righty is a basket case.

Everyone knows that in Texas, to be a "real man", you have to cheat on your wife, get impeached by your own party, and pardon a pedophile. Or be a sniveling worm like Ted Cruz.

NPR, embarrassing and disgusting journalism. The real story is yet another corrupt GOP candidate is using bad faith attacks using an absurd cultural trope to avoid talking about issues that impact voters. Once again adopting right-wing framing as a baseline. Your readers are dumber after reading.

NPR is shyt, cancel them! However, people need to wake up! Paxton was trying to call out to men! Machismo is big in Texas, “Texas is built tough, barbecue etc etc! See paxton was calling on those guys who are machista, especially Latino men! Talarico knows this, Texan and has worked side by side (1

With paxton in the statehouse! He knows his ways and knows the Texas culture so he has to do some not so ordinary things as the rest of the states! You need to appeal to the voters, and that’s what both of them are doing! Gotta play their playbook! Oh I forgot football is so much a Texas way!

You’re probably not from Texas so you wouldn’t understand! People here are so hung up on their traditions and culture and you will not get them out of it! So I’m not projecting anything I don’t already know cuz I live here!

Andy Beshear thinks this won't happen if he runs for President. Talarico seems authentic in his beliefs and look what they are doing. As a Texan who lives in NY I really hope Texans grow up.

It’s nice to finally feel like I’m not the only one noticing NPR’s constant false equivalents and acceptance of fascist framing. & as others have said, they did their best to destroy you, and, still, you carry their water. 🤷‍♂️

It isn't his looks that are the problem, it's his behavior. He cheated on his wife multiple times, destroying his 38-year marriage. And that isn't acceptable "manly" behavior to most voters - especially right-leaning voters.

That is what polls consistently show, yes. For ex., only 4% of GOP voters consider adultery morally acceptable behavior in this ⬇️ poll. Paxton's infidelity among other problems is why Republicans were angered that Trump backed him. He'll be a heavy lift in TX. 1/ news.gallup.com/poll/692801/...

news.gallup.comAdultery, Cloning Still Seen as Most Immoral BehaviorsOf 20 behaviors, extramarital affairs and human cloning are seen as the most morally wrong. Birth control and divorce remain the most morally acceptable.

And ignoring the COLOSSAL HYPOCRISY of simultaneously demonizing trans ppl while sanctifying Male usage of THE SAME GODDAMN MEDICINE.

Exactly! Above link discusses how their biggest fear and fetish is being emasculated or feminized, or cucked in a racist way where black men are considered more manly and white women will choose them to proceate. So they project that into literally every part of their worldview and politics.

Actually he's putting mass shooter talking points front and center in the race. Delete this before more people see it. What an ignorant, foolish joke you are. Your editorial choices are destroying America and our freedom.

NPR transphobic now AFTER losing its funding? A true expression of deeply seated evil that im ashamed i didnt see earlier in NPR I will carry the shame of the fact i donated to you to my grave and every musician on tiny desk will have to scrub you from their image if their audiencd has a conscience
