a) ossoff's whole "bring it, dipshit" attitude is exactly the right response to trump's election shenanigans b) good lord has he ever leveled up as a political communicator, I continue to think he's a very serious 2028 contender if he wants it

Ossoff: "Here's what's going to happen tonight: the world's most famous sore loser will deliver a prime-time presidential sour grapes address to pursue his 6-year-old grievances about the 2020 election, while his war in the Middle East spirals out of control & the cost of living continues to rise.."

I agree…with one caveat. He’s Jewish. In US history, there have been exactly 3 Presidents who weren’t white, male, and Protestant (Kennedy, Obama, and Biden) People may not like that it’s an issue. But it requires understanding how to navigate that it is.

Ossoff could become the Presidential nominee frontrunner if Trump goes too far off script and he plays this right. And this is a pretty damn ideal start to playing it right.

Admittedly I wish he had used words like “weak” and “insecure” and “pathetic”. And while I personally hate how little the word “stupid” is used when talking about Trump, we probably really should be making an expressed effort to explicitly call Donald Trump a weakling much more often.

Play a clip of Trump making a baseless claim, and sandwich around it him trying to corrupt the election process. Follow up with the Republicans who have confirmed what he was doing. If we're going to relitigate, don't let Trump set the narrative.

He clearly wants it, and unlike Mark Kelly has the juice to FULLY capitalize on being targeted by Trump; I do think party leadership will lean on him not to run if Keisha Lance Bottoms loses, though, because there'd be nothing stopping Gov. Jackson from appointing a Republican to his seat.

He will be held back by the AIPAC stuff. If he were to renounce it, which will be hard because Georgia is Georgia, his numbers would get a boost BUT most Americans also only think on the domestic side of things so even if he doesn’t, he’s starting to stand his ground without flinching.

Damn that was *really* good. Separate from the content (which was spot on): zero filler words, well-timed breathing, solid cadence and pacing My only not-even-really-a-quibble is you can tell he's used to talking with his hands and is fighting for dear life to keep them clasped in front of him 😂

I've come to the conclusion that the #1 most important factor is charisma. I think Ossoff has it to some degree, but Senator Warnock does also. Either would be very good. Charisma (like Obama) is something - one thing(?) that can cut thru the propaganda a little bit. And FWIW Kamala isn't bad /1

I suspect if he dives into '28, it starts with him relatively far behind and the *first* debate where we see him say "we're gonna go after these loser criminal weirdos" while others mumble about moving on or not going overboard with revenge, the needle's gonna fly across the screen.

"looking like someone who should be president" continues to be a very underrated factor in becoming president

I think the media is ITCHING to portray any democratic actions to penalize the Israeli government for its atrocities as: “democrats dogged by accusations of antisemitism.” A tall handsome young Jew who isn’t hostile to Israel but IS hostile to the Netanyahu government and its misdeeds defangs that

Yeah, it sucks that thats usually the only thing the establishment wants to give us, but if he keeps holding the GOP's feet to the fire, I'll accept him as a canidate

Who's the replacement in the Senate if he becomes president? Lots of Dems can win the presidency in 2028. Not many Dems can win a Senate seat in Georgia right now.

He’d mop the floor with Vance. Vance is so off putting and has no juice that I’m not sure he could win a primary though. Convincing MAGA to coalesce around anyone not named Trump is going to be an impossible task for every R in the field.

I refuse on principle to speculate about 2028 yet, but goddamn he's doing a great job with the work in front of him right now. I like that in a senator.

yeah the senate is the biggest factor here - even if dems win the governor's mansion I'm not thrilled by the idea of putting his seat back up for a special election in a midterm, but if bottoms loses it's a nonstarter given how much we need to control the senate

There have never been more gettable votes than right now but the party needs to have the courage to court people to the left of Hillary Clinton instead of to the right. bsky.app/profile/sirf...

There have never been more gettable votes for the Democrats, than there are right now. Voters who have walked away. Voters who have never voted before. People angry & dissatisfied & looking for someone to rally behind. Pete is walking away from those voters, trying to court moderate Republicans.

Is it just me or is it self-defeating to suppress the POTUS candidacy of highly effective and popular politicians? I would trade any Democratic senator for someone who would have defeated Trump in 2024. I'd probably trade control of the Senate to avoid President Vance / Rubio / (insert Trumpian)

I mean, we just saw what happens when the Democratic Party structure gets cute and manipulates the electoral process to nominate a mediocre, mealy-mouthed POTUS candidate. Get the best damn nominee possible, win the White House, and worry about the rest later.

How do resignations work in GA? In some states an officeholder can pre-resign. If he's winning the nomination (and that's known by early summer), could he take the risk and pre-announce and have the special occur in 2028, when he'd likely be carrying Ds to victory in GA anyways?

It also really matters what the margin looks like this year. If he’s not Senator 51 IMO that really changes the calculus. I also think the presidency is more important than the senate. But here’s hoping for KLB as governor to ameliorate the problem. He has the it factor.

Good looking, great communicator, willing to be confrontational, has the ear of black Dems. Definitely one of the top candidates in ‘28, but a lot can happen between now and then.

And while it's probably too soon to say for sure, if we can feel more confident that we can retain the Senate seat I'm cool with him giving it a go
