This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

This is the first time since Bernie Sanders I found myself involuntarily smiling just from listening to someone running for office. This guy actually “sparks joy” in a way even many pretty-decent Dems could only imagine doing. It just feels like he Gets It, and wants to make things work better.

I've not seen such a truly charismatic politician in all the time I've been aware of politics. Dude is a master class campaigner with ideas to actually help people and im always in awe watching him effortlessly throw off all the attacks and gotchas he gets.

I'd add, for general Dem candidates, "Making the tax system fairer & putting $$ into the hands of workers isn't punishing the rich; it makes sure the infrastructure - roads, bridges, schools, parks, etc. - that fueled their success are maintained & renewed, while ensuring they have customers."

Unfortunately it won't convince many of them because theyre deeply capitalist. Capitalism places the accumulation of capital above all else. Its a poisoned incentive structure that makes people turn a blind eye to long term sustainability to make number go up a lot every quarter.

The Fascist Fucks of the Trump Regime are so scared of this guy that they're actively looking into how they can revoke his citizenship & deport him. While the MSM & Dem leaders SHOULD be saying, "The FUCK you will!", they're suggesting he needs to clarify what he means by "Globalize the Intifada".

You’re thinking too inside-baseball, he’s not making a direct vote-focused comparison, he’s using the voting trends in the general as a proxy for the character of the neighborhood. Saying “swung” blurs that line, but I think that’s okay for showing momentum.

Correction, they (major media outlets, but also the entire current GOP) are too busy trying to slander the winning candidate and frighten the electorate.

He’s also doing this video to speak directly to the centrist losers who keep running on “we aren’t Trump” and getting their ass kicked. He’s saying if Democrats give people an economic agenda to vote FOR, and focus on voter registration and turnout, they will win. Like he just did. Will they listen?

He’s doing numbers not seen before for democrats but due to not swearing a blood oath to Israel and corporate power the democrats are sitting with their thumbs of their asses.

We must help this young man win! I think Gen X, Y and Z see their lawlessness, corruption, theft, ethnic divisions, gaslighting and lies. That DEI, immigrants, and being (WOKE) are the causes for our ills & govt. Wrong! it's the ideology of 47 & the entire GOP Party, Period. Come Midterms, we win!

When I had to sit on interview panels for jobs at universities I worked at, I always paid attention to this sort of thing. Did they use language that suggested ingrained collaborative instincts, or self centered? Did their natural word choices align with our interests and values? It’s meaningful.

So true. I am sick of the people who only say “I”. I’m also an outsider who has only become interested in NYC politics since I’ve seen my Orthodox Jewish friends decry the results. Thus far I’m impressed with Mamdani. If the hypocrite Bill Ackman is for it I’m against it. Go Mamdani!

He "ran a campaign that managed to expand the electorate in such a way that no turnout model or poll were able to capture." Yup. That's it. That's the big surprise—talking to New Yorkers and getting them to care, to see themselves and their future.

He's talking about the big shift towards Trump in NY last election specifically. Which means people who hadn't previously voted GOP changed their vote and did vote GOP for the first time. He's not talking about converting lifetime GOP voters.

Zohran Mamdani’s win makes me very hopeful for other young progressive Democrats like @katmabu.bsky.social to start representing the people once again instead of AIPAC and other big money interests and billionaire tech broligarchs. Grassroots campaigning will win!

I noticed he's represented by red on the maps while cuomo is in blue. idk if these were maps from somewhere else, or by the campaign, but interesting that he goes with it anyway.

Thank you for posting these. Wish I still lived in Brooklyn instead of Long Island. I’d wait all day in line to vote for this amazing man. This is the energy & the polices this city needs. From the polls I’ve seen & pray are true he will be the next Mayor of NYC

I love this so much, and of course the whole time I'm wondering when he's going to address the blah blah blah about him, and then at the very end he does a bro slap with a young dude who is pretty evidently Jewish, and that's it. Very cool.

I like that he doesn't run away from issues, controversial or otherwise, he doesn't back away from supporting groups that are not trending positive through the Establishment's calculus - he just refuses to accept conservative talking points and instead reframes the narrative to where it should be

Republicans and establishment Dems are terrified of this guy. It's why they are trying to destroy him in advance. His saying this stuff from a soapbox as big as NYC will threaten a lot of comfortable seats and donor bases.

I found the constant cuts to slightly different shots slightly different shots kind of dizzying. The number of cuts are designed to fit GenZ/Alpha attention spans I guess but normally you return to the same shot not a slight different one.

Impressive campaign and results. But sorry, comparing percentages in a presidential general election - when everyone can vote - to a Democratic primary when only registered Democrats can vote, isn't very useful. We don't know how independents and Republicans would have voted last week.

Social Media has been around for over 20 years now and they’re still pretending it’s some aberration from the norm. “Oh man. That pesky electorate is talking about politics without us again”

They’re following the same playbook they have done with other young and exciting candidates whose platform and background is unique (Obama, AOC, etc). Treat them as a here-today-gone-tomorrow novelty, rather than a choice real people are excited about.

The key here is to, continued to talk directly to the voters. This is were Trump gets it right, he tells his voters to get news only from him. The dems will push had on socal media then after the election go radio silent/ hand off the accounts to interns. You need to keep voters attention.

Because many wouldn't catch that. Disappointed in the tactic tbh. bsky.app/profile/thea...

I liked this guy, sad to see him talking so misleadingly. He mentions +Trump districts, says he won them, then references swings. But his results were in a Democratic Party primary. While he technically left the interpretation to the viewer, that is not an honest tactic. Very disappointing.

If the fascists can revoke birthright citizenship we can put Zohran in the White House. It’s time to break rules and norms to save America. Pack the court, make the naturalized citizens eligible for the presidency and punch Nazis in their shit.

Dems gave people something to vote for tho. It’s cool that the bigoted voters chose him this time but that’s kinda the point. They did it this time, a time of literal political upheaval and strife. Also no one in the primary leaned into naked racism the way Republicans habitually do.

It’s a little silly to keep ignoring the huge reason people had to choose between a racial terrorist or a Black/Asian woman and actively chose the racial terrorist. Dems had plans on housing, vacations, tech, the environment, the economy. So policy wasn’t THE issue

Bring it to Texas. How do u get past the “baby killer,” “so u want men in women’s sports”, “they are coming for your guns,” “u just want open borders” - GOP messaging that resonates so strongly w Texas voters?

The main problem is social bubbles (owned by whom we know). If the media we watch and the algos confirm the worst biases, that's a problem. But proposing to improve people's lives concretely (and REALLY doing it once in power) is probably the best way to convince a few people.

Look I don’t actually want to be mean but anyone who voted for trump is too stupid to understand how the world works. How the hell do you convince them to vote in their own interests? You can dangle keys but they’ll turn on you when someone tells them they should

Dismissing them as "too stupid to understand how the world works" while clearly not watching a video that answers your specific question is a little too on the nose

It's impossible to convince them all, but it's probably possible to convince enough of them to win elections. The most important thing, then, is to turn promises into reality. Too often people are elected and don't, or even do the opposite of, what the voters hoped for (hello UK, hello France).

Trump sold himself as a normal guy last year, going on podcasts that didn’t ask him shit. 1 more debate in October that actually talked domestic policy and economics he would have lost that shine. No one could say what he could do to help lower cost. And no one challenged him. They know it was bs

1. Physically go to neighborhoods that have moved to the right. 2. Listen to their concerns. 3. Campaign with a positive vision and clear policy ideas that address issues they care about. Source: the video.

Racists back republicthugs. Racists aren't voting for Mamdani, obviously. He tapped those who've been sitting on their asses believing they had no horse in the race. I hope republicthugs didn't set NY up and get Mamdani selected so Sliwa can slide in. Curtis Sliwa would be NY's worset nightmare.

OMG! Never mind his beliefs that no billionaires should exist and police should be defunded. And as we know, defunding police has worked out splendidly in Chicago! Socialism for everyone! BUT, he is so insanely charismatic that when NY turns into a cesspool, he can make people feel good about it!!

Yes. Get rid of all the brilliant innovators. Then why work when you have nothing to aspire too. Just lay around and collect cash and be a non productive member of society. All this innovation BS needs to stop. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I’ve started more companies, hired more workers, and invented more new technologies than these “brilliant innovators” whose primary innovations are being born on third base and loving to whine about leaving the city but never actually fucking doing it. They’re the ones who are non-productive.

Why do working people show up every day with no prospects of a better future? Because they have to in order to survive. Your not laying around bc busses are free, your unburdened to get to work.

I'm glad he's inspiring. But what matters is whether he can implement the policies, if they work, and if people believe they worked. Obama was a great campaigner, too, but the results didn't ultimately convince people that government was on their side, and effective.

This is a fair point, but I would say that if he continues on this trajectory, he'll have a mandate that will make it very difficult for his political opponents to stand in the way of his agenda. He still has to deliver though. Luckily, one of his main promises is entirely within his control.

I wish I had a $ for every time I told some old democrat that if you want young voters to turn out- you do it by giving them someone to VOTE FOR. Bernie did that. But establishment kept the primaries closed so young voters couldn’t upset the plan. This win is exciting IF DNC opens up the primaries.

I think the crisis in the Democratic Party is evident. They are at a cross roads: business as usual - benefiting big business with small inroads into the patriarchy vs. A more grass roots, ground swell, focused on citizens. This last election should be evidence that the old way isn’t working.

Agreed. The Establishment Democrats can either embrace Progressives and independent liberals and win elections -or they can cling to the current Political Consultant Industrial Complex, stay rich, but lose every election. I’ve always said Est Dems have more in common w repubs than they do with us.

We need to be running 10,000 people, at least as leftist as Mamdani, all over the country. We need to make it so that even if they deport him, his goals- OUR goals- spread like wildfire and are achieved.

Exactly! Join your local DSA or state Dems chapters. We can all give up a few hours a month to help find people who will stand up for us within our communities. This fight is not going to happen top down. It’s bottom up and it starts with everyday people.

It’s very interesting politics. As someone almost a thousand miles away, I’d like to know more about policies. How can you make the city more affordable? Give me numbers that show costs for programs and where the money will come from.

Im confused. This is a candidate speaking in complete, coherent sentences with factual data. Is this Pete B in a wig and mustache? Kamala in disguise? How refreshing to watch and listen to an intelligent, photogenic candidate for a leadership role. I'd sure as hell vote for him.

This video is for the establishment Democrats weighing whether to endorse him or back Adams/Cuomo. Mamdani states he won a commanding mandate, turned out new and young voters, and reclaimed Trump voters – everything D’s have talked about since November. He’s sooo good at this!

Establishment Dems are backing him. The people who need to listen to him are the progs in Congress who are lazy ideologues doing NO work, just pontificating to Bernie's cult. They can't be bothered to listen to real people. They "know it all". THEY need to fear him. He makes them look BAD.

I truly love what he's doing and his energy makes me miss living in NYC. But I'm genuinely confused when he compares general election results with primary votes, as Republicans and Independents can't vote in Democratic primaries in NY. That's apples and oranges.

I think the answer is that in areas where Trump won heavily in the general election, it's clear that many Dems voted for Trump. If Z's doing well in the Dem primary in those districts in the primary, he is capturing back Dems who voted for Trump.

The democratic establishment better wake up and get on board. His winning formula needs to be replicated nationwide. I don’t want to hear that it’s blue city thing. Who doesn’t want affordable housing, lower prices, low cost child care and an economy that benefits the working class? Except MAGA.

Pay attention - Dems are behind him. Now, if he delivers in NYC, we can insist the ones in Congress do the same. DSA Dems in the Squad, Bernie, have done NOTHING their whole careers. If he can't deliver, well, maybe nobody can. We will see.

He's very skilled at messaging. One small but very effective example: When talking about himself, he says "we" but when talking about Trump, Adams, and Cuomo, he names them individually. Very subtle but effective--he's for us, they are only for themselves.

If the Democratic Party can't get behind someone like this, they need to fold up their tent and get out of the way. I vote for Democrats for the sole purpose of defeating Republicans. But we need something better, and this is it! The Nazi MAGA base is hopeless -- we need to win back America.

I worked that election. Terry MacAuliffe was an awful choice from the start. He had no charisma and ran a campaign on benefiting big businesses and promising more of the same. The energy in my campaign office was dire in a way I had never seen before.

I’m scared a little. He looks and sounds like an actual good dude who knows his shit. But left wing hopes have been consistently crushed and I’m scared of hoping again. All the way from London. So please, NYC, help your fellow decent humans and vote this guy in, show it can be done.

This is an awesome campaign video in style and deleivery, but im not sure comparisons between trump's preformance and his preformance in a closed democratic primary is exactly above board...

"Trump won this district by 40 and we won it by 16" is not an apples to apples, NY has closed primaries (im rooting for him hard btw we need a big shake up and I think the strategy he describes is a winning one!)

Put your fucking ALL CAPS RANTING away and act like a grownup. It sucks that she lost, now we should try to win, let’s learn from someone who did. Why on *earth* would we not celebrate the wins of someone with great policies and great values? You have the exact same goals as MAGA. Fuck off.

Even if I agree with you that the election was stolen from Kamala Harris (which I don't disagree with but have no proof or evidence of), why does that mean we have to stop glorifying Zohran Mamdani? Whether or not Kamala got robbed, he still ran a fabulous campaign and won decisively.

Do what the heck you want to do. Don't try to usher everybody on board. the point is dems don't have to tear her down to boost him up. he can stand on his own as she did. to suggest this is how you run a campaign for the people, is utter BS. the people were and remain her focus.

I'm not sure that's what's being implied here. Just because everyone is pointing out how great a campaign he ran doesn't imply that Kamala wasn't focused on the people. I think the criticism is aimed at the Democratic Party generally, not Kamala Harris specifically.

Well, he ain't there yet. Cuomo's talking about running in the general as an independent, because he apparently hasn't learned that "no" means "no". Also, Trump says he's considering revoking Mamdani's citizenship for... reasons? Obviously it's outrageously illegal, but that hasn't stopped him yet.

You mean showing that you can be a good politician with new ideas that help regular people instead of the lesser evil who will screw you slightly less than the other guy got people to vote for you? Someone should tell Schumer. Oh, wait, he doesn't like those policies.

This is the way. “We knew we could get people to turn out of they saw themselves in our policies, giving them something to vote FOR, not something to vote against…” Well done sir!

I really like Mandani, but the presentation of some of these statistics is misleading. “Brighton Beach Went for Trump by 44 points. Last week, we won it by 16” suggests a huge swing and winnable Trump voters, but that’s not necessarily the case, as the vast majority of primary voters voted Kamala

Not necessarily. It makes sense if you take "Trump won the district by a wide margin" as a proxy for "This district was much more conservative than NYC as a whole in the last election" even though the numbers aren't apples-to-apples. It's impressive that he could run up margins there.

THIS IS THE STRATEGY! I hope the DNC and the leaders of the Democratic party are watching. He just gave them the winning strategy for free. No need to spend millions trying to create their own Joe Rogan or putting together a nonsense "Project 2029". Economic populism works everywhere everytime.

I mean how does him winning a dem primary for mayor have any relation to winning Trump voters? Did people switch parties? Can you vote for someone in another party in a NYC mayoral primary?

He said in another post he spoke with Democrats that voted for Trump in the 2024 election. You're also allowed to change your party, he urged independents to do so bc the deadline to do so to vote in the primary was Feb 14

This is excellent, and hopefully will be a model for more Democrats as we go into 2026 and 2028, but he is comparing Trump's margin in a general election to his own margin over Cuomo in a Democratic primary? Huh?

Exactly! I thought the same thing. How can he say he reclaimed Trump voters or make comparisons between a general presidential election and a Democratic primary? Seems very dishonest.
